Summer bank holidays are about relaxation, catching up and kicking back with some great food and a refreshing ale while the weather's still warm enough. And with so many excellent, award-winning breweries right here in Ireland it's never been such a good time for craft beers. We've put together some excellent food pairings for some of the best local brews (along with a few international favourites) all of which are available on Deliveroo.
Fresh and full of flavour, the globally-renowned Brewdog are a craft beer phenomenon and their Punk IPA reveals an explosion of tropical full flavours with citrus and pine while Dead Pony matches floral and spicy undertones for a zesty lemon aroma. Pair both with either a whopper filling-packed burger or any irresistible spicy dish (curries are good!)
Created by Eight Degrees Brewing in Mitchelstown, Co.Cork, Howling Gale is the brewery's first and most popular beer, balancing pale golden colour with pleasant grapefruit and citrus aroma. For the ideal food pairing, you can't go wrong with the salty charm of fish and chips or a smoked salmon dish where the citrus notes act like a squeeze of lemon.
Galway Bay Brewery's selection of Irish hand-crafted, thirst-quenching craft beers will suit any taste but this Red Ale strikes a particularly smooth and balanced flavour. This Bay Ale goes with most food types, but for those summer nights especially salad, cold meats and cheeses!
