Entertaining for guests can be a stressful event, from making both you and your place look decent, to creating your signature arrival cocktail and of course attempting to build the ideal dreamy ambience for your guests. So we asked the one and only James Kavanagh to share his perfect dinner party menu and soundtrack selections to host the kind of legendary soiree your guests will be raving about for months. Make it one to remember by ordering from your favourite restaurants off Deliveroo, so you can relax and focus on being the most fabulous host possible.
James: These are nice, up-beat tunes to get people in the mood for chatting while they sip an arrival cocktail & take some group photos. And you really can't start a dinner party/ party without Enya, can you?
What to serve: Elderflower Prosecco Cocktail using Dingle Gin and Corte Alta Prosecco from Baggot Street Wines.
James: Staying with an up-beat theme to encourage chatter and some shoulder shimmying as the starters arrive, these two songs will nicely compliment the mood.
James: You don't want the mood to dip, or people to start getting sleepy, so these two songs will nicely segway your guests into dessert.
James: When dessert is arriving, you'll want to slightly slow the mood down a bit via the music. Dessert is when the indulgence begins; some nice cheese, chocolate cake etc. People like to take their time with this course, so the music should reflect this.
What to serve: Daily special brownies from Brother Hubbard, Chocolate truffle tart from Fallon & Byrne, International cheese board with Comte, Brie, Bleu D'auvergne, Morbier and Gouda from The Cavern Baggot Street.
James: Why not go mad for the end of the night and resurrect everyone? Bring out some shots and blast this before everyone departs. Will make for some stellar Snapchat content.
What to serve: Prosecco Frizzante from Drinkstore.
